Ed McCarren

I was raised an army brat, and that meant growing up in several different states within the USA as well as a few places outside the country. One of those places was the Panama Canal Zone, where I graduated from Balboa High School and completed a year at the local college.
I then moved on to new places but always had a special feeling for Panama. Although I made some trips back there over the next few years, I then went decades without seeing what seemed to be my de-facto hometown.
Perhaps, like many military kids, there was no place that we called home since we would move to a new place every couple of years. So, it seemed natural to remember the place that we finished school and spent our formative years, as your hometown.
Over the years, many former Zonians would continue to attend reunions and make treks back to this special place.
This first novel was influenced by the people, locations, and establishments that became part of the world I was fortunate to experience.
I worked most of my corporate career in the lottery industry managing the training and technical support for various projects. Upon leaving that job, I received training as a technical writer. I have provided hardware and software manuals, training guides, and other sleep aids to various companies.
Until a few years ago, I wrote short pieces as a hobby. Now I am focused on writing and have just completed my second novel.
I am a member of the Florida Writers Association and have spent the past five years working on my writing skills. Panama Reunion is the first of two novels I have written, the second novel being Island Rendezvous.
I live with my wife, Deb, in Palm Coast, Florida. We have six kids between us, and eleven grandkids to date.
